When the times are tough, it’s really hard to ask people for money. When we showed up to play the benefit for the Children’s Heart Association, we were surprised at the size of the room. It was pretty small compared to many of the things we do, but it turned out to be a very intimate setting. And the best part is that they made a little money for the cause. We heard that over $10,000 was raised. That’s great. We had the opportunity to perform with some of the musicians who played with Bobby Darin and a good time was had by all. We hope to do it again next year.
We have a lifetime of recording experience within this section. Some of our guys have been fortunate enough to lay down some heavy tracks including quite a few notable recordings such as soundtracks to Raiders of the Lost Ark and others. When we do a casual count of the recordings we have made, we count close to 500 CDs, films, jingles and shows between us. But, there is something special about the recording session. This is the very first recording session that we have done that our kids will dig.
Finally! A recording that our kids will can be proud of!
We just laid down tracks to our first kids album. The barn burner is a tune called “Granny, Get Outta Bed!” And trust us, she will get up and start dancing her ass off.
This also gave us the opportunity to work with the smoking vocal group, “Fifth Avenue”. Check them out, they are awesome. We hope to do more with them in the future.
As soon as this CD is available, we will let you know.

Join us this Sunday, May 4th, at the Alexis Park Resort where the Fat City Horns will be performing with original musicians from the Bobby Darin band to help raise money for the Children’s Heart Foundation. You may purchase tickets directly from the Children’s Heart Foundation of Nevada at (702) 967-3522. Where do you play when you are not with Bette Midler. I will be in Vegas in May and I would love to see you play”

Well, Cindy, we are all full time musicians and while we try to play together as much as possible, sometimes we have to take what comes our way. For instance, here is a sampling of some of the shows we have been on in just the past month.

The Temptations at The Orleans
The Jersey Boys at the Palazzo
Ben Vereen at the SouthPoint
Latin Breeze at the Texas Station
The Rat Back is Back at the Plaza
Rick Michaels, Drinking, Swinging and Singing at Ballys
Gladys Night at The Orleans
Various Recording Sessions and Casuals
Zowie Bowie at Red Rock Hotel
Las Vegas Philharmonic

Not all of us are on every event but the gigs to seem to get spread among us and our friends fairly evenly. It’s hard to keep track, but we can be found all over Las Vegas. We are very fortunate to keep busy, but the place to see us is always at the Palms hotel with Santa Fe. Check us out every monday, this is the gig that gets us through the rest of the week.
